Bishnulal Gurung, who goes by the name of Jack, is a candidate of the United People"s Front of Nepal (UPFN) from constituency 3 of Lalitpur. He has been busy in door-to-door campaign just as any other candidate. [break]
With half a dozen supporters, he has been making rounds of his constituency. He has a small bicycle, which he rides while campaigning. Small children love to follow him around when he is on his campaigns. ´Small children run after me when they see me riding bicycle,´ he said.
Forty-three-year-old Gurung has been trying his best to win support of the voters of his constituency through his agendas.
´I do not promise big fantasies like other candidates. I will not betray my people,´ he said. He said that his candidacy is for the rights of dwarf people like him.
´No one has raised the issues of dwarfs like me. I know that parties will not respond to our problems because our number is too small,´ he said, adding that he would advocate problems of people like him in the CA if elected. Issues of reservation have been raised in the previous CA but no one talked about reservation for people like him, whose number are approximately over 4,000. Gurung said that the nation has kept them under "C" category of disabled but has given them no special rights.
He said that the big parties have been spending millions of rupees in the election campaign, which he cannot not afford.
Gurung, who worked in Dubai for eight and half years, said that he is unemployed since he returned last year. His four members" family has been dependent on his earning. He said that his son, a seventh grader, is normal but daughter is dwarf like him. His wife, who is below 5 feet, is taller than him.
