Seven Nepalis killed in accident in Uttarakhand, India

KATHMANDU, April 9: Eight people including seven Nepali nationals were killed when a vehicle veered off the road and fell into a gorge 150 feet deep on Tuesday near Betalghat, in Uttarakhand's Nainital district of India.

KATHMANDU, April 9: Eight people including seven Nepali nationals were killed when a vehicle veered off the road and fell into a gorge 150 feet deep on Tuesday near Betalghat, in Uttarakhand's Nainital district of India.


Two Nepali passengers sustained injuries in the mishap. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was quickly deployed to the accident site.

With the assistance of local residents and police, the SDRF team recovered eight bodies from the scene, and the injured were transported to a medical facility for treatment.


The passengers, all hailing from Mahendranagar in Nepal, were on their journey back home when the accident occurred. The vehicle's driver, Rajendra Kumar, who also perished in the accident, was a local from Betalghat.
