FM Saud requests Indian authorities to expedite search operation to trace missing Nepalis in Uttarakhand

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Foreign Minister NP Saud has made a formal request to the Indian side for necessary assistance in searching and rescuing the missing Nepalis in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, India.


On Saturday, Foreign Minister NP Saud telephoned Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and requested him for the urgent search and rescue of the Nepalis who went missing in the landslides that occurred in Gauri Kund of Rudraprayag district since Thursday night.

A total of 19 people have gone missing in the landslide at Gauri Kund in Rudraprayag. According to the reports by Indian media, most of the missing are Nepalis. Chief Minister Dhami told Foreign Minister Saud that security personnel and other agencies have been deployed for search and rescue operations of the missing people since Saturday morning.


Dhami also said that due to the adverse weather condition in Rudraprayag, his visit to Gauri Kund was canceled, but he has given instructions to the local administration to search for the missing persons, according to the Secretariat of Foreign Minister Saud.
