Senior doctors Jha and Thapa succumb to COVID-19 in capital

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Two senior doctors have died of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the capital.



Senior cardiologist Dr Sunil Jha, who was also a professor at the Institute of Medicine under Tribhuvan University, and Dr Narayan Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of Ishan Children and Women’s Hospital, succumbed to COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Jha breathed his last on Monday morning while Dr Thapa passed away on Sunday night. Earlier, both the doctors tested positive for the coronavirus.


The ministry has paid tribute to the late doctors while expressing condolence to the bereaved family members and relatives.  


“The demise of two doctors has deeply saddened the whole country. It’s a huge loss to the country,” the ministry stated in the press release.
