KATHMANDU, Sept 11: Lawmaker of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pampha Busal has said that all the entry-points along Nepal-India border should be closed.
Arguing that India has been repeatedly encroaching Nepali territories along the bordering areas, lawmaker Bhusal opined that Indo-Nepal border-points should be sealed to check such encroachment.
Speaking at the meeting of Parliamentary Committee on State Affairs and Good Governance, she made a claim that the Indian Border Security Force is encroaching a meter of Nepali land every day.
She also stressed the need to make the identity cards mandatory to the citizens of both the countries for their cross-border movement.
However, lawmaker of main opposition Nepali Congress Devendra Raj Kandel objected to Bhusal’s statements. “The government should rather take initiative to resolve the matter through diplomatic channels. I think, closing the border is not a good idea as two countries are geographically as well as culturally connected sharing an open border,” added Kandel.
