SC orders reinstatement of NUP’s Sudurpaschim lawmaker Indira Giri

DHANGADHI, April 14: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the reinstatement of Sudurpaschim Province lawmaker, Indira Giri.

DHANGADHI, April 14: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the reinstatement of Sudurpaschim Province lawmaker, Indira Giri.


Giri has been reinstated following SC’s  interim order preventing Giri’s removal from office.


A single bench of SC Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut issued an interim order reinstating Giri as a member of the provincial assembly.

Giri was removed from her position as a provincial assembly member upon a written request from Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) Chair Ranjita Shrestha due to inter conflict. 


Giri belongs to the Resham Chaudhary faction within NUP.


Following Chairperson Shrestha’s letter, the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Speaker had announced Giri’s dismissal from her post.
