KATHMANDU, July 30: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered that hearings on sensitive cases involving privacy concerns should not be conducted live.
A division bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Shanti Singh Thapa issued the order on Tuesday, stating that cases requiring protection of privacy under the law, those requiring closed-door hearings, and cases in which legal practitioners request confidentiality must not be live-streamed.

The order came in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Jivan Kumar Shahi, challenging the Supreme Court's practice of conducting live hearings.
The bench further directed that no live hearings be conducted until the SC formulates and implements a policy, directive or standard governing live-streaming of court proceedings.
