SC orders medical entrepreneur Prasai to be presented in court

The apex court also issued a show-cause order to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police, asking them to provide the reasons and basis for Prasai's arrest.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to present medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai before the court.  


A single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma heard the writ petition filed against Prasai on Sunday. Following the hearing of the habeas corpus petition, Justice Sharma directed that Prasai be brought before the court.

The apex court also issued a show-cause order to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police, asking them to provide the reasons and basis for Prasai's arrest.  


Prasai's son, Nirajan Prasai, filed the writ petition on Friday against the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Headquarters in Naxal, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in Lazimpat, and the Kathmandu District Court.  


The CIB team had arrested Prasai from his residence in Bhaktapur on November 19. He is currently in police custody.
