Durga Prasai presented before Supreme Court

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai, who was arrested for investigation on charges including forgery, electronic transactions and money laundering, has been presented before the Supreme Court.


Prasain's son Nirajan Prasai had filed a habeas corpus petition on November 23, claiming that Durga Prasai was being unlawfully detained and requested an interim order for his immediate release.

A single bench of Justice Manoj Sharma had ordered on Sunday to present him along with the detainee. Prasai will be questioned today. If his written response is submitted today, the hearing will also take place, and an order regarding his release will be issued. 


If the written response is not submitted, it will need to be submitted a day after.


Prasai, who was admitted to Bir Hospital for treatment, was brought back to custody on Tuesday. As per the court's order, the police had admitted him to Bir Hospital on Sunday evening.
