As the number of examination centers failed to get increased while the number of SLC examinees in the district is now higher, the District Education Office (DEO) fears that there may be difficulties in conducting the SLC exams properly. [break]
According to the DAO, examinees appearing in the SLC in the district have increased by around 1,000 in comparison to last year. Despite the increased number of examinees, the Office of Controller of Examinations (OCE) has made no changes in the number of examination centers in the district.
For a total of 11,976 students--including regular and exempted, the Office of Controller of Examinations (OCE), the authority managing the SLC examinations across the country, has opened 32 examination centers, the same number as the previous year. Unlike today, only 10,603 students participated in the SLC exams last year.
According to Rudrahari Bhandari, an officer at DEO, the DEO had applied to the OCE for five more examination centers in the district but the OCE made no changes.
OCE stated that the examination centers could not be increased in the district as the Ministry of Finance did not provide a sufficient budget for the SLC examinations, which are to be held from March 13, informed Bhandari. “As the examination centers couldn´t be increased, we have increased the number of invigilators for holding the SLC exams in a free and fair manner.”
He also reported that other necessary preparations for the examinations have entered the final phase. “The task of appointing superintendents for the SLC exams is being carried out with due seriousness,” he said.
