Rupesh, Madan win titles

KATHMANDU, June 28: FIDE Master Rupesh Jaiswal and Candidate Master Madan Krishna Kayastha on Saturday won the titles of Chess Tournament organized in the memory of late sports journalist Suman Bhomjan.



Top rated Rupesh maintained his cent percent winning streak under rapid section in the seven round event to finish on top. Similarly, Madan Krishna secured 4.5 points in the five-round event of blitz section.

Bivek Thing, Madan Krishna, Badrilal Nepali, Kshitiz Bhandari, Himal Lama, Ashis Phyual, Sundera Prasad Shrestha, Sajin Maharjan and Sumit Pant secured second to tenth place under rapid.


Similarly, Kshitiz, Himal, Rupesh, Badrilal, Ashis, Purusottam Chaulagain, Janardan Shrestha, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha and Bivek finished second to fifth under blitz. Federation of Nepalese Journalist Member and Nepal Sports Journalist Forum Secretary Prakash Timalsina distributed prizes to the winners on Sunday.
