KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The ruling coalition is meeting again today in an effort to reach a consensus to table the US-funded MCC in parliament. The meeting has been scheduled at 10 AM.

During the meeting of the alliance held on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Deuba had expressed his party’s intention to table the MCC agreement in parliament at any cost. However, the meeting ended inconclusively as coalition partners– CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN(Unified Socialist) are opposed to tabling the agreement in parliament unless the main opposition party lifts obstruction in parliament.

The government plans to table the MCC agreement in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today. The top leaders of the ruling coalition are scheduled to hold a discussion before the parliament meeting today in an attempt to form a common ground regarding MCC.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has initiated dialogue with the main opposition party CPN-UML after the ruling coalition failed to reach an agreement to table the MCC in the parliament. He along with his wife had reached the residence of UML Chairman K P Oli in Balkot on Thursday evening.
