KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Toshima Karki has called for recognizing the September 8 and 9 Gen Z protest as Nepal’s third people’s movement.
Sharing her opinion on social media, Karki said that the peaceful uprising had conveyed a clear demand for “cultured politics and good governance,” which now needs to be institutionalized. She emphasized that the Gen Z protest, referred to by many as the “Gen Z Revolution,” represents a legitimate call for political transformation.

“The need for civilized politics and good governance conveyed by the peaceful uprising on September 8 should be institutionalized, but the resentment and unexpected incidents of vandalism, arson and destruction on September 9 should not be blamed on Gen Z under any pretext,” she wrote.
Karki also criticized the government for what she described as its “criminal conduct” during the first day of the protests. She demanded a fair investigation and legal action against those responsible for using brutal force against the demonstrators.
“Since the criminal character shown by the government on September 8 is inexcusable it must be brought under the purview of law and action,” she said.
