RSP Chair Lamichhane to be brought to Kathmandu today to record statements

Lamichhane, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is being brought from Pokhara to Kathmandu on Tuesday for further questioning related to the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who is in police custody in Kaski, is being brought to Kathmandu.


Lamichhane, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is being brought from Pokhara to Kathmandu on Tuesday for further questioning related to the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud case.

Earlier on November 17, Kathmandu District Court had given permission to arrest Lamichhane in connection with the misappropriation of savings at Swarnalaxmi Cooperative.


On October 18, a team from the CIB arrested party chairman Lamichhane from his party headquarters in Banasthali. He is under investigation for cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering charges.


Previously, he had given statements regarding the misappropriation of funds in the Supreme Cooperative Savings of Butwal. Arrest warrants have also been issued against Lamichhane and 10 others in Chitwan for the misappropriation of funds from Sahara Cooperative.
