KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPPN), led by former Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa, has announced that the party will launch a movement from mid-March to restore the Hindu state and monarchy in Nepal. A meeting of the central committee of the party made this decision during the meeting held on Saturday.
RPP to launch demonstration for Hindu state and monarchy
The party has decided to hold the General Convention from November 29 to December 1, 2025, in Kathmandu.
After Rajendra Lingden defeated him in the leadership race of the RPP, Thapa revived the RPPN. He criticized the palace (members of the former royal family) for his defeat. There was a time when he maintained that the monarchy would not return. However, in recent years, he has increasingly expressed support for the monarchy.
