KATHMANDU, April 30: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has expressed concerns over death threats issued against Santosh Aryal, who is also the party’s candidate for the post of Ward Chairperson of Gokarneshwor-5.
Stating that a close person of Aryal had threatened him for trying to defeat the Nepali Congress (NC), the RPP has stressed that democracy cannot prosper if an individual’s right to choose a party is challenged through coercive means.
Aryal had joined the RPP after quitting NC just a few days ago. The local administration has already been informed about the incident, according to RPP.
Issuing a statement on Saturday, the RPP has drawn attention of the government and the Election Commission (EC) to create a safe environment for party candidates to announce their agendas, ensure their personal safety and take action against culprits of such incidents.
