Relief distribution to fire victims starts

BHADRAPUR, Dec 5: The District Natural Disaster Relief Committee, Jhapa has started distributing relief assistance to the family members rendered helpless after fire engulfed Bhutanese refugee camp in Belgadi-2 on Tuesday afternoon.



The Committee has started providing relief assistance of Rs 2,000 each to the fire victim families and Rs. 1,500 each for the construction of huts. [break]



We have reached out to the fire ravaged site and provided relief assistance to the victim families, said Chief District Officer Narendra Raj Sharma.



The massive fire that broke out in Beldagi camp had rendered 400 refugees of 86 households homeless. The victims have been provided shelter in local schools and nearby places.



The donor agencies have also started providing assistance to the refugees. CARITAS Nepal had made arrangement to serve beaten rice and vegetable on Tuesday evening while Bhutanese Intellectuals´ Group had arranged meal en masse for the refugees on Tuesday night.
