Rejina, Pujan win gold

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Rejina Thakuri and Pujan Khadka of Dilip Memorial Boys' Union Club and Sakumar Basnet of Central Dojang on Sunday claimed gold medals in the Seventh Korean Ambassador Cup Taekwondo Tournament being held at the Army Physical Training and Sports Centre at Lagankhel, Lalitpur. Rejina claimed junior women's 49kg gold beating Gita Basnet of Kailali.

Sushmita Thapa Magar of Chitwan and Chandani Bishwamitra of United Taekwondo Dojang won bronze medals. Similarly, Pujan bagged junior men's 33kg gold overcoming Ayush Pandey. Asmit Raut and Anup Tamang claimed bronze medals.

In senior men's 58kg event, Sakumar left behind Chandra Rana Magar of APF to win gold. Pradeep Giri of APF and Ram Pokhrel of Army had to remain satisfied with bronze medals. Altogether 1,500 players from 50 districts and three departmental teams are vying for 32 gold medals.
