Ratna Jit completes double hat-trick of title

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Nepal number one shuttler Ratna Jit Tamang has completed double hat-trick of Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badmintion title on Thursday after he secured top finish in the men's singles event at APF's court, Halchowk.

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Nepal number one shuttler Ratna Jit Tamang has completed double hat-trick of Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badmintion title on Thursday after he secured top finish in the men's singles event at APF's court, Halchowk.



The national champion defeated colleague of his same departmental team Nabin Shrestha 21-17, 21-9 in the summit clash to win his sixth consecutive men's title of the tournament. 



After becoming the champion, Ratna Jit said, “I was confident of winning the title as my opponent was less experienced than me. Given his young age, he lacked stamina which eventually helped me to register the victory.”  



Meanwhile, Ratna Jit's sister Nangsal Devi also became champion in the tournament as she defeated Sichchya Shrestha 21-17, 21-17 in the women's singles category. The winners in men's and women's singles categories bagged Rs 60,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. 



Similarly, the pair of Ratna Jit and Nabin won men's doubles title defeating the pair of host team comprising of Bijit Thapa Magar and Bishal Pradhan 21-18, 21-14. Winner Army duo were rewarded with Rs 25000 each.
