Ratna Highway closed after pedestrian dies in car-hit

BIRENDRANAGAR, May 23: Ratna Highway of Birendranagar has been blocked after a pedestrian was struck by a car at the Ghusra road chowk on Wednesday.

BIRENDRANAGAR, May 23: Ratna Highway of Birendranagar has been blocked after a pedestrian was struck by a car at the Ghusra road chowk on Wednesday. 


Lok Bahadur Shahi ,72, of Birendranagar Municipality-12, who was injured in the  car-hit, passed away while receiving treatment at the Karnali Province Hospital on Wednesday night.

After the death of Shahi, his relatives blocked the Ghusra Road Chowk ( Ratna Highway) by burning tires.


They have been protesting, demanding those involved in the incident be identified and their identities made public. As the road is blocked, it has  caused problems for the vehicles traveling through the highway.


Police said that they are currently searching for the vehicle involved in the incident. Rupesh Khadka, chief of Surkhet police, said that a search for the vehicle involved in the incident has been ongoing since the day of the incident and that the vehicle will be found soon.
