BIRENDRANAGAR, August 15: After two people died in attacks by wild animals, the locals have blocked the Ratna Highway. After the bodies of two people were found eaten by animals, the locals in Babai blocked the highway demanding proper compensation.
Ram Bahadur Chand and Kabi Oli died while cutting grass in Gerwani forest of Bheriganga Municipality-5. SSP Madhav Prasad Shrestha, spokesperson for Karnali Province Police Office, Surkhet, said that the locals have blocked the highway since Monday morning and efforts are being made to open it.
Ratna Highway reopened after six hours
It has been said that the highway has been closed with the demands that proper compensation should be given, wild animals that attack humans should be controlled and the buffer zone should be abolished. As the highway is blocked, travelers entering Karnali Province are stranded. Travelers have to suffer in Babai since they are unable to reach their destinations on time. Relatives of the deceased are discussing the incident at the Area police office Chinchu. Chief of the District Police Office, Surkhet, SP Padam Bahadur Bista said that the issue of opening the highway is being discussed with the relatives of the deceased.
