Rastriya Panchayat member Nanimaiya Dahal passes away at 92

Former Rastriya Panchayat member Nanimaiya Dahal has passed away at the age of 92.

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Former Rastriya Panchayat member Nanimaiya Dahal has passed away at the age of 92.


Dahal, who had been suffering from pneumonia, breathed her last today at Durgayu Hospital in Kathmandu, according to Ramesh Aryal, former chairman of Gokarneshwor Municipality-6.

A prominent political figure during the Panchayat era, Dahal rose to prominence after defeating Jogmehar Shrestha by more than double the votes. Known for her rebellious nature from a young age, she was elected as a Deputy Panchayat member in 2029 BS.


Family sources have confirmed that her last rites will be performed today at Pashupati Aryaghat.
