Rana-led NOC's general assembly Saturday

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) reinstated by the Supreme Court has called its general assembly for Saturday in Kathmandu.



The NOC led by Rukma Samsher Rana has been strengthening its organization after National Sports Council (NSC) vowed to support the Rana-led NOC. [break]The NSC has received an order from the Supreme Court´s to implement its verdict of November 4, 2010 and submit progress report.



NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama has been saying that no national associations of Olympic sports can go against SC verdict and there is no other option other than holding a new election of NOC assuring participation of all national associations.



Rana-led NOC´s Treasurer Purushottam Lal Shrestha said an extraordinary general assembly on Saturday would decide the future course of NOC.

Meanwhile, a source close to Rana-led committee said that they are closely watching the activities of the Pradhan-led committee and asking NSC help to stop them from utilizing Olympic funds.



The source claimed that the Pradhan-led committee has opened a bank account in Llyods Bank England for Olympic participation. "The IOC had deposited $40,000 in the account as preparation grants and another $80,000 as Olympic Package grant but $65,000 still remains unspent in the account. This issue will also be discussed with NSC soon," claimed the source.
