KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Nepali Muslim communities have started celebrating Ramdan, a month-long festival observed by fasting from dawn to dusk, from Sunday.

Muslim people believe Ramdan brings enormous opportunities for the whole of mankind to get mercy and blessings of the almighty Allah.

They believe that mutual bond, sympathy and fraternity become consolidated among all in mankind, irrespective of distinctions between the poor and the rich, through keeping fast.

On this festive occasion, Muslim people read Namaj going Masjid, a Muslim place of worship.

They mark Id al-Fitr, day of feasting at the end of Ramadan after a month of fasting.
