KATHMANDU, March 16: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) organized a financial literacy rally to mark ‘Global Money Week’ on Saturday. ‘Global Money Week’ is commemorated across the world each year in March to create awareness on the importance of saving, creating livelihoods, gaining employment, and entrepreneurship. Around 4,000 participants carrying placards reading slogans related to financial literacy marched on the rally that started from Basantapur and concluded at Bhrikuti Mandap, according to a central bank statement.Global Money Week was celebrated across the world this year from March 9 to 17 with various programs under a common theme of ‘Save Today. Safe Tomorrow.’ “Inaugurating the rally, NRB Governor Yuba Raj Khatiwada said that along with general public, the issue of raising financial literacy is equally important for banks and financial institutions for their professional development,” the statement added. Addressing the children participants of the rally, Khatiwada said that they should develop the habit of saving from the early age to become entrepreneur in the future and contribute for the prosperity of nation.
