KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast rain and snowfall in several parts of the country, including Kathmandu, on Sunday. A westerly low-pressure system is expected to influence the weather, with its impact increasing from Saturday night.
Light rain is likely in parts of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Lumbini provinces on Saturday night, and snowfall is expected in the same regions. On Sunday, cloudy skies are forecast across all seven provinces, with rain expected in parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces. Snowfall is also possible in parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces. The Kathmandu Valley is likely to experience light rain on Sunday afternoon.
Heavy rain likely in some parts of the country
This weather system is expected to cause a drop in temperatures and reduce fog and mist in the Terai region for one or two days. The westerly low-pressure system's effects will begin to decrease on Sunday night in western Nepal, with clear weather returning by Monday afternoon.
