Rai wins Ligligkot race

GORKHA, Oct 12: Bhumiraj Rai of Panchthar won the Ligligkot race organised at Ligligkot Tuesday morning.



Rai of Nepal Police finished the 11 kilometres long race from Chepeghat to Ligligkot in one hour, one minute and 14 seconds.[break]



Similarly, Homraj Shrestha, aNepal Army personnel from Ramechhap, came out second. He completed the race in one hour one minute and 35 seconds.



Arjun Dhakal of Armed Police Force (APF) came out third. Dhakal who is from Tandrang, Gorkha, clocked one hour two minutes and 27 seconds.



Forty-seven people had participated in the race. The athletes coming out first, second and third in the race received Rs. 50,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively.



Ligligkot is a historical and touristic place in Gorkha district where the Shah dynasty first established its reign.



The Gorkha principality was setup from here after Drabya Shah, the progenitor of the former kings of the Shah dynasty that ruled Nepal for more than 240 years, won a race at Ligligkot over two and half centuries back.
