According to ICC, through his admission, Rahul was found to have breached Section 12 Article 2.1.6 of the ICC Code, which relates to “pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion by a bowler or other member of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman”.
“Vishwakarma has apologized for his actions and has given me an assurance that we will not see a recurrence,” ICC quoted Match Referee Jukes.
The charge was brought by the two on-field umpires Tyron Wijewardene of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires and Sarika Prasad of the ICC Associate and Affiliate International Umpires panel at the conclusion of the match which Nepal won by five wickets.
All Level 1 breaches carry a maximum penalty of an official reprimand at an ICC Development event. For Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct the ICC Match Referee´s decision is final and binding.
