Rabi Lamichhane to appear before Kathmandu District Court on Sunday

Rabi Lamichhane, the suspended chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is set to appear before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday to face the charges of cooperative scam and money laundering for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of depositors’ savings at the Kalimati-based Swarnalaxmi Cooperative.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Rabi Lamichhane, the suspended chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is set to appear before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday to face the charges of cooperative scam and money laundering for his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of depositors’ savings at the Kalimati-based Swarnalaxmi Cooperative.


According to central committee member of RSP Deepak Bohara, former home minister Lamichhane will appear before the court on Sunday morning.

“According to chairman Lamichhane, he is on his way to Kathmandu after completing the necessary legal work in Kaski,” Bohara wrote on Facebook, “He will appear before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday in coordination with the concerned agencies.”


The Office of the Attorney General had registered a case against 39 individuals, including Lamichhane on Sunday. Lamichhane was released on a bail of Rs 6.5 million on Thursday by the Pokhara District Court over allegations of irregularities in the funds of Suryadarshan Cooperative.
