Officials at the PSC said the experts involved in running institutes and conducting preparation classes will be barred from preparing questions and examining the answer sheets of PSC examinations henceforth. [break]
A senior official at the PSC said on condition of anonymity that they are currently screening the names of such experts in the PSC roster.
“We will remove such persons from our roster to keep the sanctity and credibility of the PSC intact,” said the official.Though the impartiality of other constitutional bodies has been questioned time and again, the PSC has largely remained out such controversies.
Officials at the PSC said no action would be taken against experts who occasionally conduct “guest lectures”.
Government officials ranging from gazetted third class officer to secretary take preparation classes for PSC examinations in privately-run institutions. “The chances of irregularities are high if we keep the same persons in our roster of experts,” added the official.
Officials said they were forced to take the decision after they received complaints that some of the experts had been luring candidates to their institutes claiming that they could help the latter pass the PSC examinations.
There were also complaints about the experts favoring certain candidates while examining answer sheets.
A board meeting of PSC had taken up the complaints received a few weeks ago and decided to remove such experts from the roster following necessary investigation.
