KATHMANDU, June 13: The prohibitory orders enforced in the Kathmandu Valley have been extended by a week till June 21, according to Prem Prasad Bhattarai, the chief district officer of Bhaktapur.

A meeting of the chief district officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur - the three districts in the Valley – held earlier at 3:30PM today took a decision to this effect.

The ongoing prohibitory orders which were extended by 10 days on June 2 were due to end on the midnight of June 14.

The restriction orders in the Valley were first enforced on April 29 to break the chain of the contagious COVID-19 infection which has been extended time and again. The meeting has decided to allow groceries and book shops to remain open till 11AM and allow online deliveries and take away services for hotels and restaurants. Likewise, the CDOs also decided to allow farmers to carry out farming activities during the period. Similarly, hardware shops can remain open after 4PM.
