Here is what you can and cannot do from today

KATHMANDU, June 15: The district administration offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur – the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley - have extended the prohibitory orders enforced in the Valley to curb the further spread of COVID-19, relaxing some restrictions enforced earlier.

The latest prohibitory orders have come into effect from Tuesday and will be effective till the mid-night of June 21.

Things that are not allowed during this period

  • Public gatherings, seminars, training etc
  • Venturing outdoors unnecessarily
  • Opening cinema halls, party palaces, swimming pools, clubs, libraries, gyms etc
  • Schools and colleges cannot conduct physical classes
  • Private and public vehicles restricted to ply the roads

Things that are allowed

  • Online classes
  • Those people who need to visit embassies for EDV and abroad studies can visit
  • Embassies can conduct exams and interviews adopting proper COVID-19 safety measures
  • Agricultural activities
  • Essential industries and construction companies can remain open making arrangements of accommodation of workers at their respective workstations
  • Pharmacies can remain open 24/7
  • Vegetable and fruit shops, book shops, dairy shops and other essential suppliers can remain open till 11 AM
  • Hardware shops allowed to remain open after 4 PM
  • Online deliveries and takeaway services allowed till 7 PM
  • Workshops can be operated till 9 PM
  • Two people from a family whose family members are admitted to hospital allowed venturing outdoors. Report card of patient and hospital admission card required
  • A maximum of seven people and a vehicle allowed for a wedding. Wedding ceremonies to be conducted at your own home
  • High-level government officials with identity cards allowed to go outdoors
  • Those traveling via international flights require an air ticket, passport and visa document to travel to the airport
  • Journalists with identity cards issued by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and permissions from the CDO office allowed to travel

For vehicles

  • Ambulances and vehicles used for drinking water supply and sanitation can be operated
  • Vehicles used by electricity and communication offices for maintenance activities allowed plying the roads
  • Vehicles used for supplying daily essentials allowed operating from 9 PM to 11 AM
  • Vehicles supplying essentials to construction activities are allowed to operate from 9 PM to 5 AM

Banks and Financial institutions

  • Banks allowed to operate limited branch offices adopting COVID-19 safety protocols
  • Insurance companies and Security Board can operate turn wise with a maximum of 20 percent of manpower
  • Cooperatives and remits to stay open two days a week (Sunday and Thursday)
