The company will focus mainly in those areas which are deprived of electricity services and are not connected in the network of national grid.
"We will set up small windmills at such remote areas where expanding the national grid is expensive," said a statement issued by USP Wind Power System Pvt. Ltd. "Small scale windmills can be best alternative to provide electricity to far-flung areas."
Surendra Bahadur Singh of the company urged the government to provide subsidy for such projects.
He said the wind energy costs about Rs. 3.5 to Rs. 4 per unit and average lifespan of such windmills is about 25 years.
The government while launching the current budget announced a program of producing about 20 MW of electricity from wind power around the Kathmandu valley. Experts have claimed that 70 MW of electricity can be generated through wind energy in and around Kathmandu valley alone and 3,000 MW of power can be produced across the country using wind power.
However, no wind energy plant has been proved commercially viable so far in the country.
