President Yadav was awarded the black belt ninth dan, the greatest award of the WTF, on the second day of the 4th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship. Likewise, Prime Minister Nepal and Constituent Assembly chairman Subash Chandra Nembang were each awarded the black belt eighth dan and Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Tiwari Nepali the seventh dan.
Similarly, Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) president Rukma Shumsher Rana and Treasurer Rabiraj Singh were felicitated with black belt sixth dans and Suraj Kumar Baidya of Baidya Organization was give the fourth dan. They were all presented the awards by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Hong Sungmog.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Nepal opined that taekwondo has played an important role in increasing Nepal´s pride in the international arena. He recalled that he was honored by Korean Taekwondo officials some six or seven years back.
Minister for Youth and Sports Nepali, Korean ambassador Hong Sungmog, NOC President Pradhan, NTA president Rana and National Sports Council member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha also spoke on the occasion.
Korean taekwondo team of Hang Zong University demonstrated spectacular taekwondo skills and also Korean dances during the function at the jam-packed hall. Nepali taekwondo teams too displayed some of cultural dances during the function.
Likewise, the WTA also presented letters of felicitation to 13 senior coaches and 10 assistant coaches across the nation.
Taekwondo matches
In junior women´s U-42 kg category, Namrata Dhakal and Devika Tamang advanced into the pre-quarter final round, winning their respective matches. Namrata defeated Sagun Thapa and Devika beat Sangita Karki.
In the same category, Sarswati Thapa, Laxmi Karki, Mamata Thapa and Reshma Thapa also booked their places in the last 16, winning their respective matches.
In junior men´s U-51 kg category, Jeevan Bhujel of Voice of Children ousted Anish Singh of Kailali and Krishna Adhikari of Sauraha outplayed Himansu Shrestha of Bhumhee to secure berths for the pre-quarter final round.
