Probe panel submits report on Sudan Gurung to PM

The 45-page report was prepared after recording statements, reviewing allegations, and examining asset details.

KATHMANDU, June 5: A probe committee formed to investigate allegations against former Minister for Home and Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Sudan Gurung has submitted its report to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.



The committee, led by former High Court judge Achyut Prasad Bhandari and including Comptroller General Shobha Kant Paudel and Joint Attorney General Achyut Mani Neupane, was formed following a Cabinet decision on May 11.

The 45-page report was prepared after recording statements, reviewing allegations, and examining asset details.


Gurung came under scrutiny over alleged links to businessman Deepak Bhatta, who is in custody in a money laundering case, as well as questions over his asset disclosures.


He had earlier resigned, calling for an impartial investigation into the allegations.
