KATHMANDU, May 31: A probe panel formed by the Election Commission (EC) to investigate the incident related to tearing up ballot papers with votes in Bharatpur Metropolitan City has  submitted its report.


"The probe committee has submitted its report on the incident related to  tearing up the ballot papers in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, at the EC Office today," Surya Prasad Sharma, spokesperson of the EC, told Republica Online.

A high-level team on Tuesday had left for Chitwan to launch an investigation into the incident.


On Monday, the EC had  formed a  probe panel led by Joint Attorney General Gita Prasad Timsina in which Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Mahesh Acharya and  Additional Inspector General (AIG) Kedarman Singh Bhandari are members.  


The EC wants to sort out this problem  as quickly as possible, Sharma said, adding, “The Election Commissioners are holding a meeting to this effect.”
