President appoints Upadhyaya, Karki as ambassadors to India, USA

KATHMANDU, April 6: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has appointed Deep Kumar Upadhyaya and Dr Arjun Kumar Karki as the ambassadors to India and the United States of America (USA), respectively.

Earlier, the government had sent their nominations to the respective countries for an approval. Prior to this, the Parliamentary Special Hearing Committee (PHSC) of the Legislature-Parliament endorsed the government recommendation for the new ambassadors to India ( Upadhyaya) and Dr Karki (the USA).


The appointments were made Monday as per the Article 150 of the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2007, the Office of the President stated in a press mote.

There were no ambassadors from Nepal to these two countries for over the past three years. RSS
