Moreover, there will be complete relief from load-shedding for a day in a week, NEA said. There will be a two-hour cut during the evening for four days and similar cuts during the daytime for two days. [break]
This further relief -- from 35 hours a week to 12 hours -- comes after NEA successfully completed the repair work on one of the units in the Kulekhani reservoir which had been shut for maintenance.
Currently, the Kulekhani reservoir supplies 45 MW of power. After the repaired unit comes into operation in the next few days, a further 45 MW of power will be added to the national grid.
"Because of the rains, the load-shedding has been reduced," said Sher Singh Bhat, director at the Systems Operation Department of NEA.
On June 22, the state-owned service provider had slashed the power-cut to 35 hours per week from 54 hours.
