KATHMANDU, May 11: The Nepali Army on Monday launched a four-day “Defence Correspondent Orientation Programme (DCOP)” at the Army Headquarters aimed at strengthening coordination and communication between the military and the media.
The programme was inaugurated by Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet, who said the initiative seeks to build a more reliable, refined and effective relationship between the Nepali Army and the media sector while helping journalists better understand the institution for smoother news reporting.

A total of 29 journalists affiliated with various media outlets are participating in the orientation programme.
According to the Nepali Army, the programme includes presentations on the organisational structure, responsibilities, roles and key activities of the army. Discussions and interaction sessions on disaster response and other contemporary issues will also be conducted during the training.
