The government will not compromise on ending violence and drafting the new constitution within the deadline, he said.
Saying that the Nepal Army is the pride of the country, he said the army has been preserving Nepal´s integrity and sovereignty and stressed the need for its democratization and professionalism.
"The Nepal Army is a professional army in a true sense and welfare of the country and people is its characteristic," he said.
Poudel said his focus will be on 47 percent of army men living a tough life in bunkers and riding them of this situation will be his priority.
The government is for concluding the peace process and drafting the new statute on the basis of the Comprehensive Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution, he said.
On the occasion, Secretary of Defense Ministry Nabin Kumar Ghimire said since the Defense Ministry is overlooking the Nepal Army, there is a need to address the problem of those living in bunkers.
