UDAYAPUR, April 14: Udayapur Police has seized nearly two quintals of marijuana that was about to be transported by river.
After receiving a tip-off that marijuana was being smuggled at midnight, police successfully confiscated the drugs at around 1:50 am on Monday.

The marijuana, weighing 180 kilograms in six bags, was being smuggled by tying the bags to two bus tubes using bamboo. Based on a tip-off, a joint team from the Belka-9 Rampur Area Police Office and the temporary police outpost at Kothu recovered the marijuana.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kedar Man Dong, the information officer at the District Police Office, Udayapur, the seized marijuana has been kept at the Rampur Police Station, and efforts are underway to find those involved.
Previously, hundreds of kilograms of marijuana have been seized multiple times around the Sapta River, including in areas like Chhatara, Kothu, and Dumribote, with several individuals also being arrested. These repeated incidents have led the police to suspect that marijuana is being smuggled by river, passing through Bhardaha and heading towards the Indian market.
This incident has confirmed the police's suspicions. A police source said, “In the past, marijuana and those involved in it have been repeatedly arrested in this area. The discovery of marijuana perfectly positioned to be carried away by the river this morning confirms that marijuana smuggling has been happening with the flow of water.”
So far, no individuals involved in the incident have been found, according to DSP Dong.
