Police seize Rs 250 million in foreign currency smuggling bust in Kathmandu (Photos)

The suspect has been identified as Kushang Lama from Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-1. He had previously served five years in prison for gold smuggling.

KATHMANDU, March 18: Police have seized foreign currency worth approximately Rs 250 million from Jhor, Kathmandu, and arrested one individual in connection with the case. The arrest was made public during a press conference held by the police on Tuesday.


The suspect has been identified as Kushang Lama from Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-1. He had previously served five years in prison for gold smuggling.

According to the police, two individuals had instructed Lama to transport the large sum to Kerung. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement launched an operation.


On Monday night, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office intercepted a vehicle (Na 7 Kha 1652) in Jhor and seized the cash along with the suspect.
