KATHMANDU, Sept 29 — Nepal Police on Sunday night raided Jawalakhel-based residence of Bhushan Rana, the brother of Arzu Rana Deuba and brother-in-law of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Bhushan Rana has been facing growing allegations of involvement in major corruption cases and influence over state procurement and appointments.

The raid was conducted jointly by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police. During the recent Gen Z protests, videos surfaced showing burned fragments of Nepali and US dollar bills inside Deuba’s Budhanilkantha residence, fueling public speculation about the alleged illicit wealth of the Deuba couple.
There have also been claims about the existence of an underground vault used to store cash; however, no official confirmation has been made so far.
During the protests, Deuba, also president of Nepali Congress, and Arzu, the then foreign minister, were reportedly assaulted by demonstrators before their residence — a sprawling bungalow — was set on fire.
Sources told Republica that the octogenarian Deuba and his wife, who are currently undergoing treatment, were preparing to move into Bhushan Rana’s home after their home was burned.
