Police, Padmodaya register wins

KATHMANDU, June 5: Departmental team Nepal Police Club and Padmodaya Club have registered victories in the ongoing fourth RBB-NVA National Women’s Volleyball League on Monday.

In the curtain raiser match played at the National Sports Council (NSC)’s Covered Hall, Police defeated Shivam New Diamond Academy 3-1 to register its first win. Police, who lost the first set 21-25, recovered brilliantly to win the second 25-11, the third 25-23, and finished the game with a 25-21 fourth set victory. In the other match, Padmodaya defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center 3-0. Padmodaya was clinical in all the sets and won the first set 25-14, the second 25-16 and the third 25-22 to win the match.

A total of six teams are taking part in the tournament organized by Nepal Volleyball Association and sponsored by Rastriya Banijya Bank. The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 200,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 100,000 in the tournament being played in round robin league format. Also, the third-placed team and the fourth-placed team will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Likewise, the best player of the tournament, which will conclude on June 9, will be prized with Rs 25,000, while the best spiker, the best setter, the best server, the best defender and the best coach will be rewarded with Rs 5,000 each.
