KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Police on Friday arrested the owner of the Dhangadhi-based Multi Skill Institute of Technology for running the institute without the government’s permission, and swindling students out of millions of rupees.
A team of police from the Kailali District Police Office arrested Raja Ram Chaudhari, 34, of Gauriganga Municipality-8, who swindled students out of Rs 7.3 million by admitting them to his institute, which has not obtained permission from the government.
The institute, without getting affiliation from the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), enrolled 118 students for agriculture veterinary and computer courses.
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, Chaudhary, who was on the loose, was arrested from Lamkichuha Municipality-9 in Dhanchaiya. He was hiding in his relative’s house, said police.
Chaudhary has swindled 118 students out of Rs 4.9 million. The Kailali District Court, on March 28, 2018, slapped Chaudhary with a two-month jail term and Rs 328,495 in fine. Following the court’s order, Chaudhary absconded.
Likewise, the same institute again in 2019, swindled students out of Rs 1.9 million.
According to police, Shiva Kumar Chaudhary, 33, of Kailali Rural Municipality-9, has already been arrested on the charge of swindling students out of millions of rupees.
