Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of India to Nepal Jayant Prasad highlighted the importance of Bhanubhakta’s literary works in connecting the people of Nepal and India and shared how several programs are being organized in Sikkim, Dehradun, Mysore, Darjeeling and Assam in India to celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of Bhanubhakta Acharya. Ambassador Prasad recited Bhanubhakta’s poem ‘Amarawati Kantipuri’ as well. Ambassador Prasad also announced that India will build a three-storied library building for the highest literary institution of Nepal, the Nepal Academy as homage to the Adikavi. [break]

Bairagi Kainla, Chancellor of Nepal Academy, and Kamal Mani Dixit shared excerpts from Bhanubhakta’s literary works and highlighted his contributions to Nepali literature during the event while Former Ambassador of Nepal Dr. Jayraj Acharya recited verses from ‘Sunderkand’ of Bhanubhakta’s ‘Ramayana’.
The recitation of poems followed thereafter with recitations from Ghazal maestro Dr. Sanat Kumar Basti and poets such as Geeta Tripathi, Prayagraj Visistha, Navraj Lamsal, Hem Chandra Nepal, Shailendu Prakash, Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ram Prasad Kapaadi, Ishwori Karki, Shyam Rimal, Jayanta Pokharl and Prabha Bhattarai who recited tributes to Adikavi Bhanubhakta in English, Nepali, Hindi, Newari, Maithili and Awadhi.
