KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that there are no immediate prospects for increasing employee salaries.

Speaking at an event marking the 21st Civil Service Day in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli clarified that while he is aware of the issues faced by civil servants, the current economic conditions do not permit a salary hike.

Recalling that civil servants' salaries were previously increased by 25 percent in one go when the economy was stronger, Prime Minister Oli noted that even a 25 paisa increase is not feasible at present.

He emphasized that unless the country strengthens its resolve and overcomes challenges to advance the economy, there will be no increase in the remuneration and benefits of civil servants. He also remarked that planned and sponsored opposition to the government is being perceived as bravery without real action.

Prime Minister Oli further alleged that efforts are underway to undermine culture, civilization, and social values.

PM Oli urges Dahal not to glorify violence

Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has urged the CPN (Maoist Center) not to glorify violence.

Speaking at an event marking the 21st Civil Service Day in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli called on them to stop glorifying violence and instead focus on the development of the country.

PM Oli acknowledged that violence exists in the country and must be managed according to the current situation. He questioned why, if the Maoist war was so significant, it was abandoned, and why they chose to join the peace process.

PM Oli stated that if the People's War had been truly significant, it should have succeeded. He emphasized that if anyone tries to impose their personal desires or sponsored agendas in the name of the people, the country will not accept it.

He also mentioned that the policies he adopted during the Jhapa movement were found to be incorrect and were later changed. He noted that the Maoists, after engaging in violence, eventually renounced it and transitioned to the peace process.

PM Oli further warned against returning to the path of violence.
