NEPSE nosedives 57.03 points; daily turnover plunges to Rs 7.36 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged 57.03 points to close at 2,580.76 points.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday plunged 57.03 points to close at 2,580.76 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,637.79 points and went into a downward trend from the beginning of the intraday trading. The index dipped to the day’s low at 2,571.51 points before the last five minutes. The market recovered around nine points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, shed 8.54 points. The daily turnover decreased to Rs 7.36 billion from Rs 10.33 billion on Sunday.


Among individual companies, only 14 were recorded as gainers whereas 227 were the losers.


All the 13 groups were recorded as losers. Non-life insurance declined by 252.76 points, the largest of all. A total of eight groups lost three-digit points.


CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 311.14 million. Goodwill Finance Limited lost the highest of 9.91 points of its market value. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
