Players registration for PPL opens

KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The Pokhara Premier League (PPL) T20 Cricket Tournament to be organized by the Queen Events Private Limited opened the players’ registration for this season, on Wednesday.


The organizers of the tournament, which will start from October 26, informed that the preparations of all the participating teams, the marquee players and the auction have reached the final round.


The organizers also informed that the players have to register their names online. The registration fee is Rs 1000, and it can be paid through e-Sewa.

The players to take part in the tournament have been divided into three groups: capped seniors, capped age-level, and uncapped.


The capped seniors group includes players who have played for the Nepal national cricket team, the capped age-level group consists of players who have represented the U-23, U-21, U-19, U-17 and U-15 players, and the uncapped group includes players who have not represented both national team and the age-level group.


The maximum price of the capped senior group is Rs 250,000, while the minimum (base) price is kept at Rs 50,000. Also, the maximum price of the capped age-level group is Rs 150,000, while the minimum price is Rs 50,000.


Likewise, the maximum price of the uncapped group is kept at Rs 100,000, while the minimum price is Rs 30,000.


According to the organizers, a team can have a maximum of 18 players, and the minimum of 15. A team can take 10 players from the auction which has to include a marquee player, two foreign players and two local icon players.


The players who are to be registered in the PPL can increase their price according to their respective category. For instance, a capped senior player can finalize his base prize of more than Rs 50,000. The organizers also added that they have included a different web portal for the auction.


The registration deadline for the tournament is September 25.
