RUKUM, March 11: A Fifth Division Maoist PLA satellite camp at Dahaban in Rolpa is being vacated on Sunday. Of the two satellite camps under the Fifth Division, Dirgha Memorial Brigade was evacuated on Saturday.
Jwar Memorial Brigade is being vacated today and the PLA combatants will be taken to Mangalsen Memorial Brigade. [break]
Member of the Secretariat of the Special Committee for the Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist Combatants, Dipendra Bahadur Shah said the combatants residing in Dirgha Memorial camp have been shifted to Sunil Memorial Brigade.
Shah said all arms and ammunition of the satellite camps will be stored in containers. The Armed Police Force (APF) will be given entire responsibility of taking care of the emptied camps.
A team of the APF has already reached Dahaban for the security of the camps.
Earlier, 250 combatants were residing in Dirgha Memorial Brigade and 358 in Jwarbhata Memorial Brigade.
A total of 1285 combatants from the Fifth Division have opted for integration.
Seventy percent work to close cantonments over
Seventy percent works of vacating the cantonments of the combatants of UCPN (Maoist) has been completed so far, the Army Integration Special Committee has said.
The works are completed in Shaktikhor of Chitwan, Dasarathpur of Surkhet and in Kailali as per the decision to vacate and shift to main cantonments the 13 satellite cantonments out of 21 under the seven main cantonments as per the decision of the Special Committee meeting held on February 29.
Coordinator of the Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat Balananda Sharma said works of shifting two satellite cantonments under the third division and vacating Dasarath of Surkhet and Kailali has been completed. The weapons there are being kept in containers, he said.
Sharma said 310 combatants of Pratap Memorial Brigade and 450 of Basu Memorial Brigade will be shifted to main cantonments and Sahajpur satellite cantonment in Kailali will be shifted to Talband.
The Danabari cantonment of Ilam and Yangshila, Bijauri of Dang and Tila of Rolpa will be shifted.
The responsibility of the security of the materials will be given to Nepal Army and Armed Police Force.
After the shifting, there will be seven main and eight satellite cantonments.
Secretariat will prepare for integration after completion of the shifting, said Sharma.
